SPEARFISH, S.D. Black Hills State University was recently placed on the Military Friendly gold list, which is the highest level of service a college or university can provide for veterans or active duty personnel.
Military Friendly is a website that evaluates educational institutions using public date to determine how military friendly a school is. BHSU made this list by helping military personnel in a number of different ways, especially for their work in helping veterans who no longer have anymore GI Bill money.
Greg Krajewski, Veteran Resource Coordinator for Black Hills State University, said, “There is a program for veterans to receive free tuition; they just need to go online and apply for it on the South Dakota Veterans Department website. They can get for every qualified month of service they’ll get a months worth of eligibility for that free tuition up to 48 months.”
FHSU Press Release
The university that delivers the best value in online education anywhere is expanding to meet the educational needs of career-minded airmen serving in the United States Air Force. Fort Hays State University is now a partnering school in the Community College of the Air Force’s (CCAF) General Education Mobile (GEM) program initiative. The GEM program was created to help service members earn an associate in applied science degree to advance in their military career or civilian life.
The current average graduation time for CCAF students is eight years because general education courses are usually the last taken. By partnering with institutions like FHSU with the ability to deliver high-quality, flexible online courses, the CCAF expects to reduce the average graduation time to less than four years.
