While only two minor demands have been agreed to by the Central government so far, it would not be fair to assess the movement only on the basis of the demands put forward.

The historic farmersâ struggle at Delhiâs doorsteps and elsewhere in the country has completed more than 100 days from the time Samyukt Kisan Morcha launched it. It is turning out to be the largest and longest peaceful citizensâ protest anywhere in the world. As days stretch into months, there is often a certain impatience and frustration that one encounters from the public and even the media about the âlack of a breakthroughâ.

New Delhi, Feb 17: Farmers, who are protesting against the Centre s farm laws have called a four-hour rail blockade across the country from 12 noon to 4pm on Thursday (February 18) but the agitation has forced the Railways to either cancel or divert trains in Punjab on Wednesday.
According to a release issued by Northern Railway, the farmers agitation in the state, the Darbhanga-Amritsar Express special train, which was to start on Wednesday, will remain cancelled.
While rail blockades by farmers across the state, which started in September-end, were lifted in November, members of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee continue to block passenger trains at Jandiala Guru in Amritsar district.
1. Yesterday, Kisan Mazdoor Sangarh Samiti, Bhai Dayal Singh who was also block president of the zone Shaheed Blaka Singh has passed away today. Dayal Singh had returned home yesterday from Singhu Border due to a cold that had caused him pneumonia.
2. Today, 3 Farmers passed away. Baba Kashmir Singh s/o Diwan Singh from Village Kuariawali of Fazilka area has passed away today. He was situated at the Tikri border.
3. Another Farmer in Madya Pradesh committed suicide yesterday because the electricity dept has been harassing him. Due to debt and stress, he ended his life.
4. Jashanpreet Singh (18yr Old) s/o Gurmail Singh has passed away at Tikri Border. He was from Bathinda and had arrived today. The cause of death is unknown yet

Amritsar: The district health authorities reported 27 new Covid-19 cases on Monday. With this, the count has reached 14,432 in the district. Amritsar: The Amritsar Central Jail authorities have confiscated a smart phone from the possession of a jail inmate, identified as Arshdeep Singh of New Gurnam Nagar area. A murder accused, he was arrested by the city police in July 2018 and since then he is in jail.
