Nine Radio’s 3AW continues to hold its sizable chunk of Melbourne’s radio audience, with the station keeping a 15.5% share overall, down just 0.1 points, and with Ross and Russell keeping their 20.1% breakfast share.
In further proof of AM radio’s ongoing strength in the market, ABC Melbourne was the biggest riser both overall and on breakfast, during a survey period (18 April to 26 June) that included yet another strict lockdown.
ABC Melbourne’s Sammy J, who replaced Sami Shah and Jacinta Parsons on the slot in 2020, grew his share by a significant 2.7 percentage points to reach a 13.8% share, one of only two breakfast shows in double digits (after 3AW).

If Melbourne Councillor Jamil Hakim has his way, Melbourne will giveaway free sanitary products in public bathrooms in the CBD.
The Council is considering funding a year-long program that will see pads and tampons available in public change rooms, recreation centres, swimming pools and libraries.
“We need to ensure that we can support every single person being able to have their dignity preserved, but also to create an inclusive economy”, Mr Hakim told ABC Radio Melbourne host Jacinta Parsons.
