Filipino woman found murdered in Clifton apartment - Newspaper

KARACHI: A Filipino woman was found murdered in Clifton on Wednesday, police said. Area SHO Pir Shabbir Haider said that the body of 32-year-old Sheela was found inside a flat in Upper Gizri by another Filipino woman, who lived in a flat in the same building. She told police that the victim had been living alone for the past seven months and was a cardiac patient. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors told investigators that she was strangled to death as they found bruises and broken shoulder bones. The SHO said that she was married but reportedly got separated from her husband recently. She was associated with a private firm which provides foreign women as domestic help in the metropolis.

Three killed in road accidents KARACHI: Three killed and three were injured in separate road accidents on Monday. According to the Federal B Industrial Area police, 27-year-old Aftab Ahmed, a constable at the Special Security Unit of the Sindh police, was killed after being hit by a speedy vehicle on Sohrab Goth flyover. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgradaute Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. Separately, a teenage girl, a man, and a woman were injured after their motorcycle was hit by a speedy passenger bus in Shershah. The Site B Section police said the girl was identified as 18-year-old Malaika while the other two were yet to be identified.

Weather turns pleasant as parts of Karachi receive rain test KARACHI: The weather turned pleasant as large swathes of Karachi experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on early Monday morning. There was heavy precipitation in multiple parts of the metropolis, including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Malir, Site Area, Nazimabad, Sohrab Goth, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Superhighway, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Korangi and other areas. Following the downpour, the power supply was disrupted in many parts and the people going to offices and school-going children faced problems. On Sunday, the Met Office had forecast first spell of monsoon rain from July 15 with moderate rainfall in the city between 10mm to 22mm.

Three die, one injured in various mishaps

July 9, 2021 A boy was among three people who lost their lives in separate mishaps in parts of the city on Thursday. According to police, a 13-year-old boy, Abdullah, son of Muhammad, died near Ghaggar Phattak after he fell off the roof of his house. His body was shifted to a nearby private hospital. In a road accident in the Sohrab Goth area, a man died and another was injured. Police said the victims were friends and they were going somewhere on a motorcycle when a trailer truck hit them. The casualties were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the deceased was identified as Fayyaz, 40, and the injured as Munawar, 44. In Orangi Town, a pedestrian, who appeared to be in his 60s, died on Shahrah-e-Qazzafi when a motorcycle hit him. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later moved to a morgue for want of identification.
