Oregon man dies when pickup overturns on I-80 near Vallejo
The Solano County Sheriff-Coroner’s Officer identified the man as Kyle Aragon.
Witnesses reported that a GMC Sierra pickup truck, traveling at an estimated 80 mph, was in the fast lane and made a sudden turning movement toward the Highway 37 off-ramp, the CHP reported. The vehicle traveled through the slow lane and the triangular area between the exit and the highway then veered back toward the highway when it flipped, the CHP reported.
The driver was ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred at about 4:40 a.m.
Sacramento woman dies in late-Christmas collision
FAIRFIELD A 62-year-old Sacramento woman died shortly after she had been transported to NorthBay Medical Center following a two-car crash late Christmas night on eastbound Interstate 80.
Jeanne Day was a passenger in the backseat of a Lexus that collided with a black Honda Civic sitting in the fast lane, near the Travis Boulevard on-ramp, according to California Highway Patrol and Solano County Sheriff-Coroner reports.
It was not immediately clear if Day died due to injuries sustained in the crash. A Coroner’s Office spokeswoman on Monday said the autopsy report was not available.
The driver of the Civic – Yennis Hernandez, 20, of Fairfield – had lost control of the car on the slick roadway as she entered the highway. Her car skidded across all eastbound lanes, collided with the concrete center median and came to rest in the No. 1 lane, the CHP reported.
