MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by debris in Marion County, according to authorities. Sgt. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the incident happened at around 4:30 p.m. Friday on Highway 501 near Highway 41. Collins said the pedestrian was standing on the shoulder of the road when they were fatally struck by a piece of debris from a passing vehicle.

Motorcycle rider killed in crash on Midlands road, identified by SC coroner Noah Feit, The State (Columbia, S.C.) May 17 A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash with a car over the weekend, South Carolina Highway Patrol said. Allen Moffitt, a 74-year-old Sumter resident, was identified as the motorcycle rider, according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker. The two-vehicle collision happened Sunday at about 10:50 a.m., according to Sgt. Sonny Collins. Both a 1986 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a 2011 Infiniti were heading north on U.S. 15 in Sumter County when the wreck occurred, Collins said. Near the intersection with Lewis Road, Moffitt made an unlawful lane change and crashed into the car, according to Collins. That s about 5 miles south of Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter.

Sonny Collins said the crash happened at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on Allen Road when a GMC pickup traveling south ran off the road and overturned. The driver was killed as a result of the crash and was not wearing a seatbelt, Collins said. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
