(KNSI) – A scout leader and vital volunteer has been named the 2021 Sauk Rapids Citizen of the Year.
Steve Reese was announced as the winner of the prestigious award on Monday.
According to the selection committee, Reese leads Cub Scout Pack 8 in Sauk Rapids and volunteers around the community.
According to the committee, his work as a sheriff’s deputy exemplifies his character and leadership.
Mayor Kurt Hunstiger will recognize Reese at the May 10th Sauk Rapids city council meeting.
The Sauk Rapids Citizen of the Year award is made possible through the support of local businesses.

People can nominate an adult for their past and present community work.
Nominees can be active in faith-based or civic organizations, boards, community groups, or business activities. Nominees can also be leaders in human service work in the community.
To propose a candidate for the citizen of the year, tell Sauk Rapids officials why the person deserves the honor.
Names must be submitted to the Sauk Rapids Government Center by April 5th.
