Read biked the entire length of the East Coast Greenway, but not all at once.
“I biked from the Canadian border to Key West,” Read said. “And because of my job, did it a week a year at a time with friends.”
They didn’t originally plan to bike the whole 3,000 miles.
“We met at the Canadian border and biked 350 miles to Portland, Maine,” he said.
It was so much fun, he said, they decided to do it again the following year, starting in Portland and going to Hartford, Conn.
“And, then it just became kind of a thing,” Read said.

BOSTON (Legal Newsline) – A Massachusetts coating and adhesives plant has settled claims it released hazardous chemicals into the air.
A consent decree entered Jan. 19 in state Attorney General Maura Healey’s lawsuit against C.L. Hauthaway, in Lynn, says the company has retained a third-party environmental consulting firm to help it upgrade its inventory management system.
A new stormwater pollution prevention plan will enable the company to comply with the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act, the settlement says.
C.L. Hauthaway will also pay the City of Lynn $240,000 and reimburse Healey’s office with $62,000.
Healey’s December lawsuit claims the company has discharged industrial stormwater into the Saugus River without a discharge permit.
