The Supreme Court today extended till September 2 its earlier order that suspended the enrolment of Barrister Muhammad Ashraful Islam as a lawyer for demanding resignation of the chief justice through a Facebook post on July 14.

The High Court today refused to grant bail to JKG Healthcare Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury in a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.
The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar passed the rejection order considering that the bail petition was not presented properly before it.
During hearing of the bail petition, the bench said that it will not grant bail to Sabrina as the trial court has already recorded statements of 11 witnesses of the case and the trial proceedings of the case are at final stage, Deputy Attorney General Monirul Islam told reporters.

Chairman of JKG Healthcare Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury has sought bail from the High Court in a case filed on charge of issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.
She recently filed a petition with the HC seeking bail in the case.
Sabrina s principal lawyer Syed Mamun Mahbub told The Daily Star today that the HC may hold hearing on the bail petition tomorrow.
He, however, refused to say the grounds mentioned in the bail petition on which the HC may grant her bail in the case.
