AJK connects with national tax system
Commissioner says it will close doors of ‘bogus invoices’
ISLAMABAD:
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) tax system was on Thursday connected with the national tax system, as part of government efforts to provide online services and increase tax collection.
AJK Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan inaugurated the digital system of income tax at a ceremony held at the Jammu and Kashmir House here.
“The linkage of the digital tax system is a historical step forward not only towards national unity and cohesion but it would also help increase the tax collection in AJK,” he said.
The chief secretary said that of the total 5,123 polling stations, 826 had been declared sensitive and another 1,209 the most sensitive. AFP/File
MUZAFFARABAD: At least 43,500 personnel of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) police, civil armed forces from other provinces and the army will be deployed to maintain law and order during the upcoming general elections, in what is being said to be the heaviest troops’ deployment in any AJK polls.
“In order to hold free, fair, transparent and impartial electoral exercise, the administration under the directions of the [AJK] Election Commission is laying main emphasis on ensuring law and order so as to provide a peaceful atmosphere to both the contesting candidates and the voters,” said AJK chief secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan at a media briefing.
