City Base Cinemas to open new theater by the Kenwood Towne Centre this summer

View Comments The Kenwood Theatre across from the Kenwood Towne Centre may be closing, but a new state-of-the-art cinema with 12 screens is opening on the other side of the mall. The owner of the Kenwood Place shopping center, where the Kenwood Theatre has operated for more than a decade, wants to revamp the movie house building and another retail building next to it – turning them into modernized spaces for shops, restaurants and offices. The Sycamore Township Zoning Commission will take up the proposal at a June 14 meeting. Meanwhile, City Base Cinemas Kenwood will open with extras such as virtual reality rooms and a bar later this summer in The Kenwood Collection. That’s a mixed-use project under development that includes retail and office tenants at 5901 E. Galbraith Road, next to the Kenwood Towne Centre.

Bradley Farmer: Man accused of fatal Sycamore Township shooting has died

View Comments Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey identified the man who shot and killed a woman in Sycamore Township on Tuesday as Bradley Farmer. Farmer ran to his vehicle but had dropped his keys and could not start the car. He ran down Euclid Ave. until he found a woman in her front yard. He held her at gunpoint and then robbed her car. Farmer attempted to take the woman with him but she refused. Police say he then returned home, doused himself in gasoline and set the house on fire, which caused an explosion.  He escaped the house and was in critical condition with severe burns but died as a result of his injuries Wednesday morning, McGuffey said. A neighbor helped give Farmer aid.
