Concerning, “Pause and beware of ‘separate but equal’” in The Day, (July 5). As a white anti-racist and retired East Lyme High School guidance counselor, I wholeheartedly support the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan accepted by the East Lyme Board of Education and superintendent.
As Matthew Borelli writes in his op-ed, multiculturalism should be the end game of the plan, and having a single member of each racial cohort will not truly represent the cohort. Whether East Lyme is “exclusive” in offering equal opportunity and equal treatment is not in question; the question is in what ways is the school system exclusive and how should these ways be addressed.

2022-2025 dubbo Regional council disability Inclusion Action plan on display
Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) invites the community to provide feedback on the next Disability Inclusion Action Plan for the region. The 2022 – 2025 Disability Inclusion Action Plan will play a significant role in developing positive community attitudes towards people with disability. Other key objectives include creating a more liveable community for people with disability; providing equitable access to employment within Council for people with disability; and providing appropriate service information for people with disability.

ABC named ‘gold employer’ at Australian LGBTQ Inclusion Awards
The ABC has won multiple Australian LGBTQ Inclusion Awards and the coveted title of “Gold Employer”, for its achievements in creating a more inclusive place to work and more diverse content for all Australians.
The ABC was also named Most Improved Employer for substantially increasing the visibility of people of diverse sexualities and genders at today’s annual awards, which recognise Australia’s top organisations for LGBTQ workplace inclusion.
