Brighton UK 20th April 2020 - Madeira Drive on Brighton seafront has been closed by the city council to traffic between 8am and 8pm for the next three weeks to allow cyclists and pedestrians to exercise in safer conditions during the Coronavirus FURTHER to Donna Lee s letter in The Argus, we are mystified as to why she should imagine that people cannot care about ALL elements of Madeira Drive and how they are being ruined by Brighton and Hove City Council which is increasingly being revealed as Green in name only.

A CAMPAIGN group say they have reported the council to the police for an alleged wildlife crime. It comes after work on the living wall in Madeira Drive, which was planted by the Victorians and is a wildlife reserve.
Brighton and Hove City Council said on Monday that the Local Wildlife Site was cut on purpose in order to build a “possible” cycle lane in the road.

Madeira Drive should be a pleasure to visit, not a misery and it sounds as if her trip was anything but safer and more inclusive , which ironically was Brighton and Hove City Council s excuse for undertaking all these expensive, unsolicited and unnecessary works to Madeira Drive.
