More than half of seniors in Texas have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, but what about those who are stuck at home and canât make it to a vaccine appointment?
According to medical professionals, seniors over 65 are at the highest risk for severe COVID-19 infections, making their need for the COVID-19 vaccine even greater.
âSeniors definitely are at greater risk for those really bad outcomes that are hospitalization and death. So, definitely seniors are a group that we are very concerned about, always,â said Kelly Craine, communications lead for Waco-McLennan County Public Health District.

WOOD COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Wood County will have a mobile vaccination clinic Thursday as a part of the ongoing statewide âSave Our Seniors Initiative.â Judge Lucy Hebron spoke with Kayla Lyons on East Texas Now to share more about the initiative to get more people vaccinated in her county. The clinic will be held only on Thursday and access is exclusively for residents who are 65 years of age or older. The clinic will be held at the Mineola Civic Center, located at 1150 N. Newsom Street in Mineola.
According to Governor Abbott, the state has allocated over 10,000 vaccine doses for the second week of the program, which the state will use in partnership with local officials and service organizations to target Texans who are 75 years and older or homebound.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A Texas program with the goal of distributing COVID-19 vaccines has made its way to rural Cass County.
Members with the Texas Army National Guard took over portions of the Cass County Law Enforcement Center in Linden Texas on Friday, Mar. 5. The guard is there as part of Governor Greg Abbott’s “Save Our Seniors Initiative.”
“We have combat medics here actually administering the vaccine to the people of the area,” said Sgt. Eric Johnson.

Area Residents Slowly Getting Vaccines, Restrictions Loosened COVID-19 vaccines continue to slowly make their way into the area, and hospitalization rates are now low enough in the local trauma service region for certain restrictions to be loosened by the state. Department of State Health Services (DSHS) data showed that 3,145 Hill County residents had received at least one dose of a vaccine as of Friday, February 26. So far, 2,800 vaccines have been allocated to the county, indicating that some Hill County residents are finding vaccines at locations outside of the county.
