Jared Davidson scored an unassisted goal with 1:52 left in regulation, giving the Seattle Thunderbirds a 5-4 win over the Portland Winterhawks at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington. It snapped a 6-game losing streak for Seattle, and the Thunderbirds in the last matchup of the season between the teams salvaged a 2-5 record in the season series.

The Portland Winterhawks scored four goals in the last 6:50 of the game, with Simon Knak getting the tying goal and Mason Mannek the winner, to defeat the Everett Silvertips 5-2 at Memorial Coliseum. The win prevented Everett from clinching the US Division of the Western Hockey League on Portland’s home ice, and snapped Portland’s 9-game losing streak to the Tips going back to last season.
Why the Winterhawks won: They played a good final two periods and finally got rewarded for it. They outshot Everett 30-8 over the last 40 minutes and finally got the breakthroughs they didn’t get during the previous five losses this season to the Tips. Knak tipped a pick home for his second goal, Mannek’s long shot made it through traffic, Kade Nolan hit the empty net, and then Tyson Kozak added a late one after the game was pretty much decided.
