HBO Max Casts Jeremy Irvine as Gay Green Lantern Alan Scott

HBO Max Casts Jeremy Irvine as Gay Green Lantern Alan Scott Per the Hollywood Reporter, HBO Max’s  Green Lantern has found its Alan Scott. Jeremy Irvine ( Treadstone) will play the iconic comic book hero, who is one of the most high-profile gay characters in all of comics. However, the character being gay is a more recent development. Scott was introduced to be gay in 2012 and to have a boyfriend named Sam Zhao. The first character to bear the name Green Lantern, Scott made his debut in 1940. Scott was the primary Green Lantern until the comic was canceled after the Golden Age of Comic Books. DC chose to go a different route as Hal Jordan took over the mantle, but Scott would be re-introduced with the explanation that Scott was on Earth-Two, an alternate universe, while Jordan was on Earth-One.

They’ll be joined by a multitude of other Lanterns from comic book favorites to never-before-seen heroes.
