Early Thursday morning, an SUV was stopped at West Broadway and South Harrison Street for moving violations and no license plate lights. After an investigation, the driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. A passenger was arrested on a Texas no bond Probation Violation warrant. Nathan Rutherford, 41, of Keneohe Hawaii, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on the warrant and a 24 hour hold on a state charge of Fugitive From Justice. Lynette D. Ehlers, 39, of Sedalia, was transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters for further testing and then released to a sober person. Ehlers was issued a municipal court summons for Driving While Intoxicated with a court date.

Sedalia Police Reports For January 6, 2021

Tuesday evening, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 600 block of East 27th Street for a domestic disturbance. Officers made contact with both parties. One party alleged that they were pushed, and the other party alleged they were poked, both with no visible injuries. A 12 hour log was completed as a primary aggressor could not be determined.
Sedalia Police observed a vehicle fail to use its turn signal when turning from New York onto Tower Tuesday evening. The Officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, Officers were able to smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and marijuana was found. The driver, Melyssa R Fleming, 34, of Sedalia, was issued a City Summons for Possession of Marijuana, which had a total weight of 4 grams. Sunday evening, Sedalia Police performed a traffic stop on a green Ford SUV, as the license plate was expired. The traffic stop took place in the area of West 12th Street and South Osage Avenue. Officers spoke to the driver, and then performed a computer check through Dispatch, where it was learned that he had a felony probation violation warrant from Johnson County on original charges of Tampering With A Motor Vehicle. Tony L. Lawson, 44, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a $15,000 cash only bond.

Tuesday night, an Officer responded to the 400 block of North Quincy Avenue for a reference to a property damage call. Latreal Grant stated that while he was away, a person known to him had damaged the front door frame. The charge of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree will be submitted to the prosecutor.
Early Wednesday morning, Officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to use its turn signal and failed to stop at a red light. The vehicle was stopped near Wilkerson and Moniteau. Officers made contact with the driver, and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver also did not have a valid driver s license. Officers searched the driver s person and found marijuana. Ferris Lee Higginbotham Jr., 24, of Sedalia, was issued two City Summons; one for No Operator Status and the other for Possession of Marijuana. Higginbotham was released
