A 2017 study published in the US-based journal Current Biology found that sleeping in the great outdoors resets our internal clocks to a natural sleep cycle. The researcher who conducted the study sent people on a week-long summer camping trip, and measured their levels of melatonin before and after the trip. Melatonin is the hormone released by the pineal gland at night, and is associated with control of the sleep-wake cycle.
