(WAFF) - There is a new billboard up in Albertville, calling for the removal of the rebel flag and relocation of the confederate monument. Community members in Marshall County started a petition in June of 2020 to let the Marshall County Commission know that they do not want the Confederacy to be honored at our courthouses. The petition has now reached over 3,450 signatures. Protest organizer Unique Dunston tells WAFF the billboard is another way of letting elected officials and community know that this issue will not just disappear. The Associated Press reported that Marshall County Commission Chairman James Hutcheson said, “Everybody’s getting tired,” and “People want to move on with their lives and move past this.”
