LAKE ZUMBRO, Minn. (KTTC) The weather is warming up just in time for the Minnesota Fishing Opener. This year takes the prize for the latest possible opener.
Minnesota statute sets the fishing opener as the Saturday two weeks before Memorial Day weekend. This year may see more fishermen and women than ever before.
“The lake is great for fishing. They have done a lot of good things with it. Right now people are enjoying it and catching some really good-sized fish.” Steve Lee said about Lake Zumbro in Olmsted County.
You can fish every day of the year in Minnesota, but gamefish like walleye, northern pike and bass can only be caught during certain times. That time starts Saturday.
