TACK trying out pair of EV vehicles

Transit Authority of Central Kentucky recently touted the purchase of nine new electric vehicles as part of efforts to upgrade the agency’s fleet. Funding for the new EVs and other vehicle purchases has been made possible through a $2 million competitive grant awarded TACK last year by the Federal Transit Administration. Purchased locally from Herb Jones Chevrolet, the electric Chevy Bolts bring TACK’s fleet to 90 vehicles, adding an all-electric component to the combination of large multi-passenger buses, passenger vans and minivans the operation uses to carry out its transportation service mission in Hardin and Meade counties. TACK provides important non-emergency door-to-door medical transportation services for Medicaid recipients, handicapped and special needs clients, seniors and veterans.

Hennessey Is Ready For The EV Revolution

Enthusiasts want more power, and tuners big and small will bring it to them. It seems a new manufacturer (rightly) jumps on the electrified bandwagon every day. Jaguar has promised to electrify its fleet, Audi is taking its bread-and-butter A4 and A5 are adding volts and Volkswagen, well, you know what it did. But right now, it seems like we re at polar ends as enthusiasts. There are cheaper hybrid and electric vehicles like the Toyota Prius and VW ID.4, and then insane electric supercars like the Porsche Taycan and McLaren P1. But in a decade or two, when the kids are driving used Nissan Leafs and Toyota Priuses and Chevy Bolts, what will they be able to do improve performance, beyond tires and suspension?

City of Saskatoon Now Has Four Electric Vehicles in its Fleet

By Brad Jennings Mar 11, 2021 10:34 AM A fully electric fleet is the ultimate goal of a new pilot project that will see 4 electric vehicles hit the streets of Saskatoon. Director of Roadways, Fleet and Support Goran Saric says four battery electric Chevy Bolts will be utilized by Saskatoon Light and Power, Facilities Management and Parking Enforcement. Saric says during the pilot project the vehicles and their charging stations will be studied to identify efficiencies, their ability to meet services standards and their lifecycle costs to maintain. City Council approved $200,000 for the cars, that are being leased, and the vehicle charging stations which are now operational. Saric says while electric vehicles have higher upfront costs, savings can be expected through maintenance and fuel cost reductions. Saric says the city’s corporate fleet includes around 470 vehicles.
