Mention the word ‘budget’ to someone who’s just landed their first job and their smile will quickly dissolve into a frown, with eyes as dead as the night. Yes, budgeting is a rather boring – but essential – thing that we all should do, but don’t.
It may not be exciting or allow you to blow your payslip as you wish, but it does teach you to manage your money and gain a modicum of financial discipline. Perhaps a less dreary way to describe a budget is to call it your spending plan. Working out how much you’re prepared to spend and save each month can simplify things and make sure that you’re always covered for the essentials.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo
Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has assured Nigerians that the country will surmount the challenges confronting it.
Osinbajo gave the assurance at an inter-denominational Church service, held in Owerri on Sunday, as part of activities marking Gov. Hope Uzodinma’s one year in office.
The Vice President said that the Federal Government had put in place measures to tackle Nigeria’s challenges head on, adding that Nigerians were greater than any problem.
“Let me say to Imo people and Nigerians that the Nation is passing through challenges, but in the midst of these challenges, we have done a lot, and we are mightier than our problems.

The months of March, April and May have been chronologically stacked for Muslim and Christian devotees’ fasting seasons. These much-anticipated religious observations have now gone beyond the theological concept, as we have gradually seen it interwoven in our everyday lives, primarily borne out of a desire to achieve something better or greater than one’s present state. For example, we are gradually becoming accustomed to the term – Intermittent fasting – as employed by individuals who have a goal or target for their health and wellbeing.
Fasting can be defined as deliberate abstinence from physical gratification for a specified period to achieve a greater goal. It is the intentional and wilful denying of self, which includes wants, needs or pleasure for a more satisfying or desired purpose.
