As people spent more time at home in 2020 than ever before many decided it was a great time to add a four-legged friend to the family. Local shelters saw a spike in adoptions and someone tried to take advantage of that at the Cambria County Humane Society over the weekend.
Friday night someone hacked the shelters Pet Finder and Adopt a Pet accounts and posted dogs for adoption that were never at the shelter. Jessica Vamos, the shelters executive director, says there was a French bulldog puppy, golden retriever and other popular breeds listed that you normally wouldn’t see at a shelter.

2020 Diane & Bob Hoover Innovation Award. The award is presented to individuals or groups who strive to better the animal welfare industry through innovation in technology. The city departments have been recognized for the creation of the Pet Finder Map. The web tool makes it easier for residents to locate lost and found pets by placing their location on a citywide interactive map. As part of its prize, the city will receive $10,000, which will be used to enhance Animal Servicesâ technological capabilities. Love
