The Runner | The no pet policy has finally been removed in Vancouver s rental housing

Pets of The Runner’s staff members. (submitted) Earlier this month, Vancouver councillors Pete Fry and Jean Swanson put forward a motion to prohibit rental contract clauses which ban renters from keeping pets. On Oct. 15, the motion was approved. Now tenants with furry friends can sit back and relax as they caress their companion. Prohibiting these “no pet” policies can reduce pet abandonment, open more affordable rental options, and improve people’s mental health during COVID times. The sad truth is that some owners have no choice but to leave their pets behind if they plan to rent somewhere where there is a no pet policy. I cannot imagine the heartbreak the owners and pets experience through these separations.

Found A Lost Pet? Here s Where To Get Their Microchip Scanned

If you find a lost dog or cat in the Sun City, here s where you can go to see if the animal is microchipped. In El Paso, there are various websites, social media pages, and places you can go if you lose your animal and need help bringing them home. But if you find a lost animal, people have trouble knowing what the next step is for them to reunite the lost dog or cat with their owners. The first step is to see if the animal is wearing a collar with an identification tag. A pretty obvious first step. If there s a tag, call the owner. But if there is none, or the collar has no identification tag, you need to take the animal to see if it has been microchipped.

Indianapolis Animal Care Services Encourages People to Adopt in February

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)–  Indianapolis Animal Care Services is hoping people will stop by the shelter to “give love” and adopt a four-legged friend during the month of February. Through the end of the month, the shelter is waiving adoption fees for families looking to bring a pet home while also accepting cash donations to help its  Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care Services Foundation. Organizers say they hope the move inspires people to open their hearts and homes to a dog or cat searching for their forever home. “Now is a really good time,” IACS manager of Community Outreach, Roxie Randall, said. “It’s cold out, you’re not really going too many places because of the current climates and everything, this is the perfect time to bring a new pet into your family. You can get to know them, develop a really deep bond, get to know them super well.”
