Nanoform and Celanese Explore Ways to Enhance Drug Delivery
Helsinki, Finland – Nanoform Finland Plc, an innovative nanoparticle medicine enabling company, and Celanese Corporation (NYSE: CE), a global specialty materials company, today announced plans to explore the synergies between their respective technologies in the field of nanoparticle-enabled drug delivery.
The goal is to assess the utility of combining Nanoform’s nanoparticle platform technologies with Celanese’s VitalDose
® EVA copolymer delivery technology for drug-eluting implants. The aims are to enable the development of next-generation drug delivery devices that support increased drug load and possess enhanced sustained release properties. Nanoform and Celanese intend to work on formulation development, leveraging each organization’s unique formulation expertise.

Sustained below freezing temperatures at Celanese’s operating sites and those of its suppliers and logistics partners have resulted in the inability of Celanese sites to receive natural gas, electricity, industrial gas, potable and firefighting water and other raw materials necessary to safely and reliably operate the plants. Without access to such utilities, Celanese has been forced to shut down its impacted production facilities until they can be operated safely and consistently. As a result of these shutdowns, Celanese is forced to curtail its western hemisphere production of the above products and declare Force Majeure under its sales contracts.

The more the two groups partnered to help the community, Richardson said, the more she learned about the materials firm and found deeper interest in the plastics industry. When the opportunity to join the philanthropy team at Celanese presented itself, I knew it was the right move for me to learn from the inside as the Celanese Foundation communication specialist, Richardson said. After years of collaboration in the philanthropic space, I made the move to the commercial sales team for an unbelievable, firsthand experience in Plastics 101, which enhanced my competencies to transition into my current role as marketing and communications manager for North America.
