New bakery set to open in St George

There’s a bustle of activity inside a former pharmacy on Friday morning as the final touches are added to the newly transformed premises.
The Clouds Hill Road building that has stood empty for the best part of two years is set to reopen on Saturday as a new bakery from the team behind The Orchard Coffee Co, which is situated just a stone’s throw away.
“I’ve been eyeing it up for so long and felt it’s time for us to branch out,” says owner Joel Viljoen, pausing work to have a quick chat on the day before the business opens to the public.

HUNDREDS of new jobs are set to be created alongside a senior living village which will feature a new medical centre with 12 doctors. The new plans could see homes and the medical centre built at Cherry Orchard Brickworks on Cherry Orchard Lane, Rochford. The major proposal - which bosses hope will create 600 new jobs - will also feature a dentist’s surgery, physio services, a hydrotherapy pool and 60 respite beds. The retirement village is also set to benefit from 63 retirement apartments, 30 assisted living apartments, 30 sheltered apartments, six dwellings and a 93-bed care home on site. And to top it off, a convenience store, a pharmacy, coffee shop, gymnasium, office space and community space are also included in plans.
