The Lady War Eagles, who never trailed in the game, drained five 3-pointers in the opening half as they stormed out to a 33-12 halftime lead. Annie Dollyhigh opened the game with a trey and Riley Black and Emma Easterwood each knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
Chestatee also took advantage of Lady Falcons foul trouble, who had two of their top three scorers Ashlee Locke and Shaina Kriews pick up three fouls each after scoring just two total points in the first half.
The game was tied at 3 after Bella Brick answered Dollyhigh with a 3-pointer for Flowery Branch. But the Lady War Eagles exploded for a 15-4 run, capped by an Easterwood trey, for an 18-7 lead. Locke’s only basket of the half closed the gap to 18-11 but Chestatee closed out the half with a 15-1 run for a 33-12 lead.

All Hall County system middle and high school students taking classes in person will switch to at-home learning from Wednesday, Dec. 16, through Friday, Dec. 18, which is the last day before the winter break.
“We’ve got a significant number of staff members that are in quarantine or in isolation, and it’s becoming more difficult and challenging to deliver instruction at the middle and high school level,” Stan Lewis, Hall’s community relations director, said. “We’ll continue to monitor the elementary school numbers, and we’ll be in contact with those principals.”
CUMMING Robert Reisman scored 20 points and Eli Pitts had 14 to get Gainesville back on track in a 56-40 win over Denmark on Friday.
Reisman was the catalyst in the Red Elephants strong first-half performance, scoring 12 of his 20 to help Gainesville to a 37-16 halftime advantage.
It also helped the Red Elephants weather a poor offensive performance in the third period. Denmark outscored Gainesville 15-4 to close the gap, 41-31.
Reisman (6 points) and Pitts (9 points, 5 of 6 from free throw line) combined for 15 points in the final period to preserve the win.
Sahmir King scored 6 points, while Charlie Reisman had 5, Jimmie Jackson scored 4, Ced Nicely with 3, and Dylan Bobga and Luke Blackburn added 2 points each.

The Georgia High School Association playoffs are just getting warmed up as it moves into the quarterfinal round. Four teams in our northeast Georgia overage area are still alive and all four will be at home but each faces a tough matchup as they look for semifinal berths.
