The North Shore is missing its Scrooge. But he intends to be back next year. David Coffee has starred in ‘A Christmas Carol’ in Beverly since 1992, but instead of being haunted by ghosts this holiday season, he’s home in Texas. By Rich Fahey Globe correspondent,Updated December 14, 2020, 3:38 p.m. Email to a Friend To a couple of generations of North Shore Music Theatre-goers, David Coffee is Ebenezer Scrooge. Every year but two between 1992 and 2019, Coffee had spent his Decembers haunted by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come in the Beverly theater’s musical adaptation of “A Christmas Carol.” This season, with the theater shut down because of COVID, Coffee, 63, is back home in his native Texas, where he spoke to the Globe by phone.
