DENNISON The Tuscarawas County Genealogical Library will be opening for the 2021 season at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The society has a new First Family chair (and newest trustee), Cheryl Abernathy. She holds several positions with Holmes and Wayne counties genealogical societies, along with holding positions with the Ohio Genealogical Society, and she handles the Stark County newsletter.
The library is located at 307 Center St, Dennison. There is on-street parking and four parking places on the alley behind the library.
The society will still be observing standard COVID-19 practices masks are required to enter and maintain a 6-foot social distance.
Daughters of the American Revolution
Regent Robbin Christman reported 95 wreaths were sponsored for Wreaths Across American by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which met Jan. 9 via zoom. She suggested the club continue the project another year, and asked for suggestions for other programs to support veterans.
Cheryl Abernathy reported OneEighty, a women’s and children shelter, received the My Bag items and bags for children who are taken in. Since this is a continuous project, DAR members will continue to collect personal items and bags until OneEighty indicates it needs more. Suggested items to collect are stuffed animals, puzzles, books, activity books and toys.
