SA s #Covid19 death rate now at 52 954

Three were recorded in the Free State, one in Gauteng, two in KwaZulu Natal, one of the Northern Cape and one in the Western Cape. The number of infections recorded in the country since the start of the pandemic now stands at s 1 551 501. Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize revealed these new numbers on Saturday. “Our cumulative recoveries today stand at 1 476 605, representing a recovery rate of 95%. “The number of health care workers vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol remains 269 102,” Mkhize said.

The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management s spokesperson, Oshebeng Alpheus Koonyaditse, says 545 personnel have been deployed in all arterial routes in the province during the long Easter weekend.  Officials in the province are not part of those who will be using body cameras and drones in an effort to keep a watchful eye on the busy routes in the province during this period.  Koonyaditse says body cameras at the moment are being used by national traffic police under Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC).

Doctors complete open-heart surgery as hospital burns

Firefighters who took more than two hours to put out the blaze in the city of Blagoveshchensk said they used fans to keep smoke out of the operating room and ran in a power cable to keep it supplied with electricity. A group of eight doctors and nurses completed the operation in two hours before removing the patient to another site, the emergencies ministry said.
