People and businesses across Greater Manchester are being urged to keep doing their bit, as the government eases coronavirus restrictions.
With demand on public transport forecast to increase significantly and social distancing still in place, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is continuing to work with operators to keep passengers safe when travelling, including running as many services as possible.
Two months into its refurbishment, Heywood Magic Market has nearly completed phase one of its transformation.
To help existing businesses and entice new ones, work to revitalise the look and feel of the local market, based on York Street, began on Monday 15 February.
Funded entirely by Heywood Market Board, local building contractors Armstrong’s are responsible for the ongoing modifications.
A representative of Heywood Market Board said: “We are really pleased with how the transformation is going.
“Phase one is nearly completed, so we are getting ready to move onto phase two of the process.
“Heywood Market Board have funded this entire project by themselves to hopefully revitalise and regenerate the market to enable our traders/tenants to continue and develop their businesses.

The homeless and transient population in Rochdale are receiving vital protection against Coronavirus, thanks to the efforts of the Rochdale Health Alliance’s Homeless Alliance Response Team (HART).
Since the first vaccination session held on 3 March 2021, 144 service users have been vaccinated at hostels, bed and breakfasts and homeless support hubs. Vaccinations will take place every two weeks at the support hub, moving forward. The HART nurses have been supported by Rochdale Health Alliance’s Primary Care Nurses as well as newly recruited Nurse Associates.
