The dry run for COVID-19 vaccination across all states in India took place yesterday as Covishield, India’s first COVID-19 vaccine was granted approval today. Serum Institute of India has said that it is safe, effective and ready to roll-out in the coming weeks.
Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Saturday appealed to people not to pay heed to rumors about COVID-19 vaccine. He stressed that there would be no compromise on any protocol while approving the vaccine. He also said that in the first phase of distribution of coronavirus vaccine, would be free for all and shall be provided to most prioritized beneficiaries, including one crore healthcare and two crore frontline workers.

India today carried out a nationwide Covid-19 vaccine dry run as the country moves closer to begin its massive Covid-19 vaccination roll out for the general public.
An identity check at the gate, a placebo injection in the vaccination room and a 30-minute wait in the observation room to note any adverse effect these were three crucial steps of the dry run for Covid-19 vaccines conducted in three places of Bengal on Saturday.
Seventy-five front line workers volunteered as recipients of the placebo during the dry run conducted at an urban primary health centre of the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation at Salt Lake’s Duttabad, at the Amdanga Rural Hospital in North 24-Parganas and another urban primary health centre of Madhyamgram municipality. There were 25 volunteers at each of the sites.

The Rajasthan Government has decided to impose a night curfew in 13 districts of the state amid a surge in cases of coronavirus.
The restrictions will be in place from 8 pm to 6 am till 15 January in Kota, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Bhilwara, Nagore, Pali, Tonk, Sikar and Ganganagar, according to an order issued by the Rajasthan Government, as per a report.
