We heard the rumblings that once Lubbock joined the ERCOT power grid we would see calls for conservation and threats of rolling outages during times of high energy use. Little did we know that it would be at a time when the wounds of winter would still be as fresh as new fallen snow.

Texans are being asked to reduce their electric use as much as possible for the rest of the week as more plants were offline than typically expected, according to ERCOT. But no rolling outages are anticipated as Texans continued to conserve energy Monday afternoon, ERCOT officials said.
The conservation request is expected to last through Friday, June 18. At one point Monday, electric demand was predicted to outpace supply as temperatures soar into the triple digits throughout the state, data from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas shows.

ERCOT noted it s unusual for so many units to be taken out of service early in the summer season. We will be conducting a thorough analysis with generation owners to determine why so many units are out of service, said ERCOT Vice President of Grid Planning and Operations
Woody Rickerson.
The outages are expected to decrease as the week goes on.
