WILTSHIRE Police s new rural crime team has got off to a good start with a busy six months of work. The team has charged 11 people with offences and carried out 15 operations with police partners, worked to disrupt organised crime groups and delivered rural crime training to over 600 officers and staff. The team is made up of one sergeant, three constables and 35 community policing team officers who are trained and can offer support as wildlife and heritage crime officers across Wiltshire. An inspector acts as the tactical lead along with members of the force s special constabulary, who are used on pre-planned operations.

Hare coursers could be left with crushed vehicles if convicted of the crime
Police have warned hare coursers that their vehicles could be seized and crushed if they are caught and convicted.
Suffolk Constabulary, in conjunction with rural organisations, has demonstrated the potential consequences for offenders who are caught hare coursing.
The force has warned that strong action against those involved in the illegal activity will be taken, with one potential outcome that any vehicles used could be crushed.
Anyone convicted of the offence can also receive a fine of up to £5,000 by a magistrates’ court.
