Group urges gov t to pay for 40 days of overtime rendered by teachers – Manila Bulletin

‘Teachers’ Overtime Counter Check’ (Photo from ACT Philippines Facebook page) “Today marks the 40th day of overtime rendered by teachers,” Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Secretary General Raymond Basilio said. He claimed that for the last 260 days, teachers shouldered the responsibilities of the government in delivering accessible quality education. “Our teachers and our learners alike suffered the effects of state abandonment even as we ourselves are grappling with the raging pandemic and economic crisis,” Basilio said. He also asked how long will the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Duterte administration “turn a blind eye to the needs of the education sector.”

Walang forever: Group slams DepEd for over delayed release of 2019 PBB – Manila Bulletin

(Photo from ACT/FB) The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) on Monday, May 3, criticized DepEd over the agency’s “deteriorating performance” when it comes to processing and releasing the PBB of teachers and non-teaching personnel in public schools. “Teachers and staff cannot wait forever. DepEd must explain why the state of the PBB has always been like this, especially since the current administration took office,” said ACT Secretary General Raymond Basilio in Filipino. Basilio added that the DepEd leadership should take responsibility for the problems in the process because the “teachers and staff are the one who are suffering.” The PBB 2019, ACT said, is supposed to “incentivize eligible performance with 65 percent of the employees’ monthly salary.” This, the group added, is equivalent to P13,490 for the Teacher 1 position, up to P16,400 for Teacher 3.

DepEd aims for recalibration to ensure its full eligibility for PBB in 2020, 2021

(MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) Undersecretary for Planning, and Human Resource and Organizational Development Jesus Mateo provided updates for the 2020 and 2021 PBB in a statement issued March 16. For 2020, Mateo noted that the department aims for recalibration to make sure that DepEd will be fully eligible and “no one will be isolated” from the PBB. Mateo then reminded offices to be “mindful of the deadlines for the submissions of indicators” for future PBBs. For the 2019 PBB, Mateo said that the teaching and majority of the non-teaching personnel of the DepEd are set to receive their bonuses after the AO25 Task Force declared the department eligible for the annual incentive.

2019 Performance-Based Bonus now a reality — DepEd – Manila Bulletin

(MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) DepEd Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla, in a Facebook post on Thursday, March 11, said that the National Performance Management Team (NPMT) met to “discuss the results of the evaluation of the 2019 PBB and the ways forward regarding our performance management as a Department.” The NPMT is led by DepEd Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development Jess Mateo. Sevilla noted that the efforts of the NPMT and the secretariat or the team to work on the submission, follow-up and coordinate on the compliance or eligibility, and appeals made to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) AO25 turned the PBB 2019 into a “reality.”
