Sec Cusi Congratulates NEA on ISO 9001:2015 Certification

TAGUIG CITY, Feb. 11 Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi congratulated on Tuesday, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) for successfully passing the ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management System. The recertification was obtained from independent third-party test organization, TÜV Rheinland Philippines, Inc. after a conduct of thorough audits. In his letter addressed to NEA Administrator Edgardo R. Masongsong, Secretary Cusi commended the NEA’s consistent adherence to international standards that benefits the electric cooperatives, which consider the agency as the vanguard of countryside electrification. “This milestone is another testament to the NEA’s solid commitment to exceptional public service,” Secretary Cusi added.

DoE taps Australian firm to explore Philippines’ hydrogen potential BusinessWorld 1/29/2021 © Provided by BusinessWorld The Department of Energy (DoE) and Australian-based research firm Star Scientific Ltd. inked an agreement to study hydrogen as a possible source of power for the country’s energy needs. In a press release on Friday, the DoE said it had signed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Star Scientific Limited on Wednesday. Star Scientific is known for its patented Hydrogen Energy Release Optimiser (HERO) technology, which converts hydrogen into heat without burning. The MOU allows the Philippine government and the Australian firm to partner up in studying on how using hydrogen power could help the Philippines achieve energy independence and significantly reduce the country’s carbon dioxide emissions.
