Ready-to-eat duck products, instant vegetable dishes, Kangkong Kropek, and Vacuum-fried Orange Kamote Buchi were among the 50 newly developed food products launched by the University of the Philippines- Los Baños’ Calabarzon Food Innovation Center (FIC) for both domestic and international markets.

He said the launch of the 50 new innovative products was held on March 2 during the celebration of the 112th foundation day of UPLB’s College of Agriculture and Food Science.
“The Food Innovation Center of Calabarzon known as FIC-UPLB, funded through the DOST Grants-in-Aid (GIA) program, and operated by the Institute of Food Science and Technology UP Los Baños (IFST-UPLB), launched its newly developed innovative products,” the DOST chief said.

De la Pena confirmed that he bagged the two awards from the PFPA, a group of various resulted professional associations in the country, during the 8th PFPA Distinction and Excellence Awards.
“Maraming salamat po sa Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA) sa mga parangal na iginawad sa akin ngayong araw na ito, ang Professional Distinction Award at ang Professional Excellence Award (Thank you so much to the Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA) for the awards given to me today, the Professional Distinction and the Professional Excellence Award),” he said in a Facebook post.

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña has disclosed that 14 Filipino researchers took part in the pilot implementation of the Preparing Researchers as Entrepreneurs Program (PREP) by the agency’s Philippine Council for Innovation, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD).

“Fourteen Filipino researchers are now on their way to becoming entrepreneurs,” he said in a report.
He noted that the two-month program is implemented in partnership with the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO).
