GLOCESTER – When now-retired Glocester Police Officer Kimberly Bertholic was growing up, there weren’t many female police officer role models, so the 20-year officer said she paved the way herself.
Bertholic recently retired as the department’s first and only female police officer. A Glocester native, she said she wanted to be a public servant, someone who helped others, for as long as she could remember.
“I knew when I was a little kid I wanted to be a police officer. I was very interested in public safety. When I started, there were not a lot of departments that would hire women,” she said.
