KLCI tracks regional gains, adds 0 64%

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 9): The main index at Bursa Malaysia added 0.64% at the midday break Tuesday, tracking the gains at regional markets. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 9.62 points to 1,582.95. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,586.90. Gainers led losers by 557 to 446, while 458 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.93 billion shares valued at RM2.28 billion. The gainers included Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, PLS Plantations Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd, Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd and MISC Bhd. The actively traded stocks included Dagang NeXchange Bhd, EA Holdings Bhd, Velesto Energy Bhd, Sapura Energy Bhd, QES Group Bhd, KNM Group Bhd and Opcom Holdings Bhd.

Bursa issues UMA query to Seni Jaya, freezes stock s upper limit price

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 4): Seni Jaya Corp Bhd has been slapped with an unusual market activity (UMA) query by Bursa Malaysia following the sharp rises in its share price and trading volume recently. The stock closed up 31 sen or 29.25% at an all-time high of RM1.37 today, valuing the group at RM55.53 million. Some 188,400 shares were traded today, far exceeding the counter s 200-day average of 9,084 shares. The stock also closed limit up yesterday with a 30 sen or 39.47% gain to RM1.06. Bursa Malaysia, in a filing today, asked Seni Jaya to disclose any corporate development, rumour or report concerning the business and affairs of the group, and any other possible reason, for the sharp increase in its share price.
