Punjab govt to fast-track growth of digital network, provide broadband access for all ANI | Updated: Apr 06, 2021 21:54 IST Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], April 6 (ANI): Despite having a telecom infrastructure density almost double to that of the national average, the Punjab government has decided to increase it further to ensure fast track growth of digital communication network and provide affordable and universal access of broadband for all in the border state. As per a statement, Punjab s telecom infrastructure density ranks third in the country and is presently 0.7 per 1,000 population. The national average, meanwhile, stands at 0.42 per 1,000. Waterfall not affected by quarrying activities

IPOH: The Tanjung Batu waterfall in Segari, Manjung, is not affected due to quarrying activities but photos of a site that had gone viral is actually a seasonal stream, says Mohd Akmal Kamarudin. The state environment and green technology committee chairman said as the waterfall was located one kilometre away from the licenced quarry site, it was (waterfall) still protected and not affected. He said the photos that went viral showed a seasonal stream that occurred only during a downpour as a result from a reservoir located some 200m above the licensed area of the Segari Melintang forest reserve. “Thus, the failure to control soil erosion and sediment from quarrying activities affected the seasonal stream and not the waterfall.

Perak to investigate claims of environmental damage at Segari waterfall

In a statement Monday (Jan 18), Saarani said the state government has instructed both the Forestry and Environment Departments to look into the matter. He said Mentri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc) has also been asked to provide a detailed report on quarrying activities in the vicinity, which has been accused of causing the pollution. “The state government has ordered all work at the area to stop, while waiting for the investigations to be completed, ” he added.
