Grievances redressal panel visits Keru HEP in JK s Kishtwar to resolve public issues

The residents raised several grievances like seeking preference to local youths during recruitment in the project, payment of pending compensation under Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Plan, water supply scheme for adjoining hamlets and a protection wall along the link road to Keru project site, the spokesman said. An eco-sensitive zone is meant to serve as a “shock absorber” between the sanctuary and its adjoining areas, protecting the animals and restricting human activity close to the sanctuary. Mount Abu is the only hill station between Rajasthan and Gujarat in southern Aravalli, India’s oldest fold mountain range. Rising from 300 metres to 1,722 metres above sea level, Mount Abu’s unique ecosystem is home to sloth bears, leopards, jungle cats, striped hyenas, porcupine and other wildlife. In 1960, 326 square km of this forested hilly terrain within Rajasthan’s Sirohi district was declared the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary.

NGT directs Centre, states to install Bird Diverters on existing solar and wind powerlines ANI | Updated: Dec 23, 2020 13:35 IST New Delhi [India], December 23 (ANI): The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday directed the Centre through the Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and other states to install Bird Diverters on existing solar and wind powerlines as soon as possible and preferably within four months. A bench of the NGT, headed by its chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel issued several directions on Wednesday while disposing of a petition on an NGO, Centre for Wildlife and Environmental Litigation through Bhanu Bansal who stated that there is an urgent need to protect and conserve the great Indian bustard as the same is on the verge of extinction.
