SHEBOYGAN - The Sheboygan Fire Department deemed the cause of the Saturday fire at Sunny Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to be intentional.
There were no injuries or fatalities during the fire, but it did $60,000 worth of damage between property and items lost.
According to the incident report from the fire department:
The fire started in a resident s room. Two versions of events were presented to the battalion chief during interviews after the incident.
The resident admitted to starting the fire, saying they used a previously lit cigarette that was still warm to try to remove a string coming on the drapes that was annoying.
