Through the hard work and dedication of its employees and the generosity of its membership, Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union raised $235.65 in monetary
donations for Sunrise Community Food Pantry in Hubbard Lake.
Sunrise Community Food Pantry collects and distributes food to those in need
throughout Alpena and Alcona County.
Along with member donations, Ossineke Branch team members held various raffles and donated $2 per employee to dress down on Fridays to help raise funds for Sunrise Community Food Pantry.

AAACU serves members primarily in Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency, and Iosco counties with nine locations: a main office located in Alpena, with branch offices in Ossineke, Lincoln, a Tiger Branch in Alcona Community Schools, Atlanta, Oscoda, the Owl’s Nest in Oscoda Area Schools, Tawas, and an additional branch in Alpena. ALPENA First Federal of Northern Michigan Legacy Foundation recently presented a $1,000 check to Sunrise Community Food Pantry as one of their first quarter grant recipients. The $1,000 will be used to replenish the food pantry’s food inventory so that they can continue to provide for families in need.
Sunrise Community Food Pantry operates out of Hubbard Lake Bible Church. They distribute food to families in Alpena, Alcona, and Montmorency counties with household income below government established poverty thresholds. From October 2020 to December 2020, they provided food to an average of 93 families and 192 individuals. Their food distributions are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

Alcona Historical Society received a $2,972 Community Impact Grant for the Sprucing Up Bailey School project.
ALPENA The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan recently awarded a new round of community grants covering a four-county area that includes Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle counties.
The CFNEM Board of Trustees recently approved 46 new grants totaling $106,515. Of that amount, $84,289 was awarded in Community Impact Grants, and $22,226 was awarded in grants from the Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council.
New Community Impact Grants are:
¯ Alcona Community Schools $1,000 for the Alcona Wrestling program;
¯ Alcona Community Schools $3,000 for the Elementary School Outdoor Classroom;
¯ Alcona County Commission on Aging $1,500 for the Alcona County Commission on Aging Technology Loan Center;
