More 2000 journalists to get assistance amid COVID-19: Hasan

DHAKA, April 25, 2021 (BSS)- Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said that the government has taken a decision to provide assistance to 2,000 more journalists as part of its financial assistance to the newsmen to help them tide over their problems amid the Coronavirus crisis.
The minister, also the chairman of Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust, informed this to reporters after an emergency meeting of the trust at the meeting room of his ministry at Secretariat in the capital.
Information Secretary and also trustee board vice chairman Khaja Mia addressed the meeting through online.

The current travel and other restrictions will be extended for a week from April 22 as hospitals continue to struggle to cope with the number of Covid-19 patients.
The number of deaths reported in a day was the highest in the country yesterday while the major health facilities have recently been operating at capacity.

conference room of Information Ministry at the Secretariat here this
afternoon.
Principal Information Officer Surath Kumar Sarker, Additional Secretary of
the Information Ministry Jahanara Pervin and other officials of the ministry
were present at the farewell ceremony.
The information minister lauded the performance of outgoing BTV DG Haroon-
or-Rashid and wished him a sound and wonderful future.

Awami League Joint General Secretary and Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said on Saturday the role played Bangladesh Betar during the country’s independence movement is written in golden letters and will remain till existence of the country.
“The people who were audience of Swadhin Bangla Kendra know how the programmes inspired the freedom-loving persons during the period and the people were seemed waiting eagerly to listen to the programmes,” he told a discussion at Bangladesh Betar in capital’s Agargaon area.
The minister said MA Hannan, the then president of Chittagong Awami League, read out the declaration of independence given by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Kalurghat Betar Kendra on March 26, 1971.
