IWD 2021: The American Telugu Association celebrated International Women s Day 2021 on March 7 with much fanfare. Organized with the theme Choose to Challenge, the event was conducted in a virtual manner. Padma Shri Dr Shobha Raju as the Asthana Sangeetha Vidwan of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) commenced the program with a beautiful rendition of a song on motherhood.
Infosys Chairperson Sudha Murthy was invited as the Chief Guest and in her message gave many suggestions to women. Speaking on the occasion, she said that women could get better opportunities if they change their way of thinking. She commented that India would be much more prosperous if the full potential of women was utilized, and female empowerment and the strength of women was the most powerful and unmatchable.

Free COVID vaccine for Infosys, Accenture employees; companies to cover costs [details]
Infosys and Accenture have agreed to cover the vaccination costs for its employees as well as their immediate families in a bid to support India s vaccination drive.
India s vaccines DECODED
In a bid to help India s vaccination drive, software giant Infosys announced that it will cover the cost of vaccines for its employees as well as their immediate family. For this purpose, Infosys is looking to partner with healthcare providers.
Infosys has over 2.4 lakh employees working across 40 countries. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the software giant was among the first in the IT industry to allow work from home. With this new initiative, Infosys will be able to bolster the vaccination drive, which is currently underway worldwide.
Karnataka Minister
Karnataka’s minister for agriculture, Mr. BC Patil recently took his covid vaccine shot at his residence which triggered controversy on Tuesday. the images and videos of health officials administering the covid-19 vaccine shot to the minister have been doing rounds on the internet and flooded the social media with outrage upon the ‘misuse of power’ by the minister. the minister’s wife was also vaccinated at home.
In a statement to the media, the minister has responded by saying that there were many people in the house and he had to wait for around half an hour at the hospital asserting that as the prime reason for him taking the vaccine shot at home. He further added that there were certain privileges and his decision to take the vaccine at home can not be considered ‘wrong’. Patil also said that he himself called up the health officials to his residence in order to get vaccinated.
