The program started girls troops in 2019. Her troop leader is Susie Flaherty.Darien Scouts / DARIEN Darien Scouts announced in summer 2019 that it would be starting its first girls troop after the Boy Scouts of America announced it would expand its scouting program. Now, the 100-year-old program will welcome Darien High School junior Lindsay Ferretti as its first female Eagle Scout. Ferretti, who also serves a junior fire fighter, said she became interested in joining the program after a ninth-grade field trip with the New Canaan Country School to the Appalachian Trail.

Darien YWCA seeking Women of Distinction Awards nominations Staff Reports FacebookTwitterEmail The YWCA is seeking nominations for the 12th annual Women of Distinction Awards.Contributed photo The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is seeking nominations for women who epitomize leadership in the areas of racial equity, social justice and have worked to strengthen the local community during the coronavirus pandemic for their 12th annual Women of Distinction Awards. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the YWCA, a nonprofit organization, was unable to hold last year’s Women of Distinction Award Ceremony to formally honor the six women selected. During the 2021 event, the YWCA will honor those six women and one young woman of distinction. The event will be held in early June, and will be an in-person event with a livestream.

Call for Nominations – 12 th Annual YWCA Women of Distinction Awards Written by Jen Russey The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is seeking nominations for women who epitomize leadership in the areas of racial equity, social justice, and have worked to strengthen our community during this pandemic for their 12th Annual Women of Distinction Awards. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to hold last year s Women of Distinction Award Ceremony to formally honor the six phenomenal women selected. During the 2021 event, the YWCA will honor those six women, in addition to at least one additional woman and one young woman of distinction. The event will be held in early June and will be an intimate in-person event coupled with a live stream.
