Process and Control Today | Royal Society and Primary Engineer s STATWARS partnership to help pupils investigate climate change

25/05/2021  Primary Engineer Programmes In the lead up to UN climate summit COP26, the Royal Society is partnering with not-for-profit organisation Primary Engineer- and their new project STATWARS® - to help primary and secondary pupils across the UK develop their data skills and investigate climate change. Through the STATWARS Climate Change Challenge, pupils across the UK will train their analytical and creative skills and find the best ways to live a more sustainable lifestyle. The challenge asks pupils to interrogate datasets to identify three achievable goals, such as recycling, sustainable eating and reduced water consumption, pupils are then asked to produce an infographic, manifesto and pitch to inspire others to follow in their footsteps. 

Two Zero: Lancashire County Council coronavirus recovery programme aims to create new jobs

DOZENS of new jobs could be created thanks to a coronavirus business recovery programme. 21 firms from across the county have taken part in Lancashire County Council’s Two Zero Zero Scaleup Resurgence programme, including Blackburn-based Sales Geek, Primary Engineer of Burnley, Rossendale-based Matrix247 and Blackburn Distributions. The programme has given each company tailed support to help them survive and continue to grow, despite the pandemic. Two Zero programme manager Amin Vepari said: “Coronavirus has affected the whole Lancashire economy and stifled growth for the majority of companies. “We engaged with Lancashire’s fast growing business community in the first few months of the pandemic and there was a clear demand for a programme that would help them return to 20 per cent growth quicker.
