Women account for just over a third of all managers in major companies, barely changed over 12 months, raising fears that “gender fatigue” is setting in among the top echelons of corporate Australia.
The paucity of women in leadership roles is also likely to limit the number of women promoted to chief executive in the coming years and hinder company performance, experts said.
Libby Lyons, director of the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, said that without commitment to gender equality from boards, there would be no sustainable improvement in gender diversity.
