It s time for Yes voters to stop doing rest of the UK s dirty work for them

TO the UDI proclaimers, the “hierarchy don’t want independence” shouters and assorted others. what gives? What actually gives? You do realise that that is the rUK establishment across the Rio Tweed? You know, the ones that are past masters when it comes to divide and conquer! So what actually gives that some people on social media are doing Downing Streets work for them? Obviously there are those that are doing it because that is what they are there for but then there are others, notably those that have failed to gain position within the SNP, and so deep is their grievance that they have placed their ego above achieving independence.

Insults to SNP MPs are all part of a Tory ploy to drive division

YOUR article on the issue of insults voiced by Tories in the Westminster Parliament at the SNP in general, and at Philippa Whitford in particular was very interesting (16.12.2020). I would like to express my agreement with Dr Whitford’s assessment that such behaviour is more than an expression of anger. I would also like to express my admiration for her patience and self control. The time for walking out of Westminster will come, but it is not now. For full effect, it must be done collectively, with dignity and in response to a more general bit of political chicanery which will raise international eyebrows. But please do not announce that mass walkout in advance. That would give the BBC ample opportunity to have a pre-planned technical hitch.

Australians fed up with News Corp s climate scepticism | Climate Change News

Rudd has previously described News Corp as “a cancer on democracy”. News Corp publications make up 60 percent of Australia’s newspaper sales. In addition to the national broadsheet The Australian and tabloids in most cities, News Corp owns the major newspapers in the Northern Territory and Tasmania. It also owns one of Australia’s largest news websites, news.com.au, and the 24-hour television channel Sky News. Sky News’ YouTube channel has more than one million subscribers, second only to the national broadcaster ABC News. Approximately 6.6 million Australians read a News Corp newspaper in May 2020 according to data from Roy Morgan. Circulation is falling, however, particularly among the company’s tabloids. Readership of The Daily Telegraph fell from 444,000 to 394,000 between September 2019 and September 2020, while The Courier Mail’s readership plummeted from 293,000 to just 239,000.

Brexit reality will be a rude awakening for many in England

Many English people are still living under the delusion that they are going to be absolutely fine I LEFT England eight months after the EU referendum as I knew it would be a catastrophic disaster for the UK. I also did not want to live with the increasing xenophobia and English nationalism which is truly awful. Many English people are still living under the delusion that they are going to be absolutely fine – to quote Johnson “things are going to be wonderful” – they have the wartime spirit and all the rest of the nonsense. The ignorance in many quarters is astounding. Many say they don’t want to be governed by the Europeans, not realising that most of the laws come from Westminster, which had a veto over European legislation. When I confronted my own brother-in-law, who lives in the West Midlands, and said food prices will soar and we will not have enough fresh fruit and vegetables coming through from Europe, he replied that we can grow our own peaches and bananas
