The mortal remains of her majesty, Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu, have departed from the Hillbrow Mortuary in Johannesburg and is embarking on a journey home. The Queen of the Zulu Nation died on 29 April 2021, just over a month after King Goodwill Zwelithini s death. Her death in a Johannesburg hospital at the age of 65 was announced by traditional prime minister to the Zulu monarchy and nation, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

The delegates arrived around 9am in a convoy of luxurious cars, taxis and ordinary cars. The body of Dlamini Zulu will be taken after a traditional rituals, and transported in a convoy to Nongoma The private burial of the 65-year-old daughter of the late King Sobhuza II of Eswatini and sister of King Mswati III, will take place in private and in the thick of dawn (all Swati royals are buried like this) on Wednesday.

The court action, along with infighting linked with the succession battle in the Zulu Royal Family, has left the monarch divided. Queen Sibongile and her two daughters, want to interdict the execution of the king’s will. They argue that his will was forged. Separately, the queen who married the king in 1969 through a civil union, contests that she is the senior wife, and as such, she wants 50% of the king’s estate and the other half to be shared by the other five wives and their 26 surviving children.
